About Me

My Background

My name is Marcela Carrillo. I was born in Perú, South America. I took an interest in languages as a college student at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio, where I completed my Bachelor of Science in Business with a concentration in Marketing. While working for an International Corporation, I also went on to work for a worldwide Language Center teaching Spanish, using the quick and effective Inlingua method. The Inlingua method is mainly focus in the development of the spoken language to achieve conversational levels.

While continuing teaching Spanish, I furthered my interest in languages as a freelance interpreter and translator in the central Ohio area. I completed "Bridging the Gap" training and worked for many years as a Spanish medical interpreter. I dedicated my time to onsite interpreting and later gained even more experience using the Martti video interpreting system. This experience gave me the amazing opportunity to work as a medical interpreter all over the USA.

25+ years later, I continue teaching, translating and interpreting for private organizations and the school system in Ohio, where I developed an interest to work with ESL students. Now, it is my goal to facilitate your learning experience in reaching conversational levels of Spanish or English through a live - online platform. So, lets start your private Spanish lessons and reach those goals that you have set for yourself!

My interest

Though I have many passions in life, I have always found myself most incline to traveling to new places, enjoy meeting people from diverse cultures and languages. My passion drew me to Utsunomiya, Japan for a few years and dedicated my time to leaning Japanese. I'm definitely a little out of practice! Since, I was born in Peru, I keep connected to my roots by incorporating aspects of culture such as food, friends and travels into my life. In general, I always strive to find ways to improve myself by learning and appreciating other cultures from all over the world. If you already learned Spanish or any other language, I encourage you to keep conversing in that language and if this is not possible search for private lessons to maintain the language.
